Alice “Jean” Wandschneider, 96, of Sparta, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. She was born on May 21, 1921 in the Township of New Lyme, Monroe County, WI to Dewey and Bessie (Kellogg) Rudkin.
Alice married Arnold C. Wandschneider on May 19, 1945 at St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church. They were happily married for over 64 years. Arnold preceded her in death in 2009. Alice graduated from Sparta High School in 1939. After graduation, she attended WTC for one year. She worked at Pet Milk Company for four years. Later, she worked at Production Credit Association for 24 years until her retirement in 1985.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Tom) Devereaux of Sparta; and a son, Gregory (Sue) Wandschneider of Tomah; four grandchildren, Luke (Melissa) Devereaux, Kelly (Britt) Beal of Vista, CA, Ben Wandschneider of Tomah, and Jacob Wandschneider of Tomah; and one great grandson, Paxton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; and her parents, Dewey and Bessie Rudkin.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Reverend John Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church, 419 Jefferson Ave, Sparta, WI 54656; and the Morrow Memorial Home, 331 S. Water St, Sparta, WI 54656.
