David D Jones

David D. Jones, 63, of Sparta, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at his home. He was born April 19, 1953 to Dwain “Spike” and Betty (Mossholder) Jones in Sparta.

David grew up in the Sparta area and graduated from Sparta High School with the class of 1971.  Following high school, he attended University of Northern Colorado earning a BA in Business Management. After college he moved back to Sparta, and was very entrepreneurial. David was very proud of his private pilot’s license in which he obtained before his driver’s license. David liked to play tennis, water and downhill ski, and was a fan of the Packers and Badgers. He loved IndyCar and Formula 1 car racing.

David is survived by his daughters, Megan (Nathan Stacey) Jones, Seattle, WA; and Kaleigh Jones, San Francisco, CA; his parents, Spike and Betty Jones, Sparta; a sister, Judy (Dale) Roberts, Sparta; and a brother, Jeffry “Chopper” Jones, Sparta. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Earl and Palma “Polly” Jones; and maternal grandparents, Ray and Edith Mossholder.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Rev. Rey Diaz officiating. A private family burial will be held.
