Elizabeth "Betty" M. Dill

     Elizabeth “Betty” M. Dill, 74, of Sparta, died Monday,  February 20, 2017 at the Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center, Sparta. She was born at home March 22, 1942 in Leon, to Ludwig and Meta (Lueck) Scherer. Betty graduated from Sparta High School with the class of 1960. She married her first husband Gerald R. Dill on November 10, 1961. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1991. Betty married Virgil P. Hanson on August 24, 1991. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2004. Betty was a homemaker and worked at Spartek. She loved to listen to old country western music.

     Betty is survived by her daughter, Julie (Jerry) Arnold; her sister, Rosemary (Rodney) Carlson; step-children, Don (Nancy) Hanson; Harry (Tammy) Hanson; Polly (Fred) Nester; and Betty Hanson; step-grandchildren; and step-great grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

     She is preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Meta; first husband, Gerald; second husband, Virgil; a brother, JR Scherer; and two infant brothers.

     A Funeral Service will be held on at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 24, at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta. Burial will be in Shamrock Union Cemetery, rural Black River Falls.

     Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and again on Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Online condolences may be offered to Betty’s family at www.schanhoferfh.com.
