Francis "Frank" B. Mlsna

April 3, 1925 ~ May 6, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old


Francis “Frank” Bernard Mlsna, 92, of West Bend, WI died Saturday May 6, 2017 at Serenity Villa Assisted Living. He was born in Cashton, WI on April 3, 1925 the son of Edwin and Magdalen (Butzler) Mlsna. Frank was a Cashton High School graduate and later joined the US Navy. He was a WWII Veteran, discharged in February 1947. One of his greatest joys was being able to participate in The Honor Flight Program. Truly believing “Every Day Is A Bonus”.

On June 14, 1947 he was united in marriage to Beverly L. Perkins at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cashton, WI.  They farmed for five years near Cashton and moved to Sparta in 1952. Frank had worked for the Sparta-La Crosse Truck Line. Later he worked for Gateway Transportation, later becoming Maislin Trucking.

Frank and Bev spent many summers vacationing in Canada and winters in Florida, Texas and Arizona; making many friends along the way. He was also very involved with the USS Block Island Reunion Group. Frank was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and later Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg, WI.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margie (James) Burgett and a daughter in law, Elizabeth Mlsna; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers, Ira Mlsna of Cashton and Richard Mlsna of Sparta, and one sister in law, Imogene Hanson of Coon Valley. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; brothers, Charles and Thomas; and a sister, Elma Mae Hohn; infant son, Mark; and son, David.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Friday, May 12, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Todd Mlsna officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by VFW Post 2112 will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Sparta.

Family and friends are invited to call at the church on Friday, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Online condolences may be offered to the Mlsna family at www.schanhoferfh.com.
