Janet "Jan" A. Isensee

Janet “Jan” A. Isensee, 70, of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at her home. She was born on August 6, 1947 to Herbert and Dorothy (Neville) Isensee in Sparta.

Jan grew up in the Sparta area and graduated from Sparta High School with the class of 1965. She enjoyed bowling, reading and crossword puzzles. She loved the outdoors, especially water skiing, archery, camping and was an avid Packers fan. Jan met her special friend and caretaker Bob Hanssen over 31 years ago.

Jan worked as a Control Clerk at Ft. McCoy for over 28 years until her retirement in September of 2002. Following retirement, she and Bob spent much of their time at Lake Camelot in the Township of Rome.

Jan is survived by her special friend and companion, Bob Hanssen, of Sparta; her siblings, Charles (Heidi) Isensee, of Hayward; and Carol (George) Strozewski, of Wisconsin Rapids; her nieces and nephews, Aaron Isensee, Megan Isensee, Christopher (Natalie) Isensee and family; and Theron Isensee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Dorothy Isensee; and a brother, Jerry Isensee.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, February 23, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Sparta, with Reverend Peter Augustine officiating and Deacon Jo Glasser assisting. Burial will be held at later date in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sparta. Online condolences may be offered to Jan’s family at www.schanhoferfh.com

Visitation for Jan will be at the church on Friday, from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire Gundersen Hospice Team for the care and compassion given to Jan.
