Joyce A. Fredrick

Joyce A. (Kittilson) Fredrick, 76, of Sparta, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. She was born January 4, 1941 to Otto and Olga (Herheim) Kittilson in Madison.

Joyce moved to Sparta at an early age and graduated from Sparta High School with the Class of 1959. She married Jerry Fredrick August 20, 1960. Joyce worked as a teller for several banks in Sparta, eventually retiring from Union National Bank in 2001.

She was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Sparta, and was a longtime member of the St. John’s Ladies Aid. Joyce enjoyed cooking, traveling, and quilting and was a member of the Black Hole Quilters.

Joyce is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Jerry Fredrick; her children, Brian (Teresa) Fredrick of Appleton, Stephanie (Ron) Adams of Alabama, Sue (Kevin) Wick of Bowler, and Mary (Larry) Bluem of Fall Creek; 7 grandchildren: Heidi Fredrick, Holly and Amber Adams, Erin and Josh Wick, and Mitchell and Allison Watters, along with 2 great-grandchildren. Joyce is also survived her sisters, Marlene (Ken) Alsmo and Lorraine Johnson, a brother, Jim Kittilson, brothers and sisters- in-law, Pat (Harlan) Becker, Sue (Roy) Markwardt, and Linda (Scott) Figdore, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Olga Kittilson; a niece, Andrea Becker; a brother-in-law, Don Johnson; and father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Peg Fredrick.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 9, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Sparta, with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Gundersen Health System-Hospice, or the Salvation Army.
