Larry J. Carlone

July 1, 1945 ~ February 28, 2017 (age 71) 71 Years Old


     Larry Joseph “Bear” Carlone, 71, of Sparta, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Pineview Nursing Home in Black River Falls, WI on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.  Larry “Bear” was born on July1, 1945 in Sparta, the son of Raymond and Beverly (Fritsch) Carlone.  He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School and Church for 8 years and loved the Lord.  He graduated Sparta High School in 1964.  He lettered as manager of the High School Football Team.

     Larry loved sports and was a very avid Packer, Brewer, Badger, and Bucks fan along with all Sparta Spartan sports.  Larry was also a manager of the VFW softball team, the Generals.  He loved attending his nieces and nephews sporting events and cheering them on.

     Larry attended vocational school in La Crosse after high school and then worked for Sparta Brush Company (Carlisle). His next position was held at Ft. Mc Coy.  He received many commendations and took pride in his work as a grounds man.

     Larry’s family was very important to him.  He loved listening to music, dancing, and even singing a few songs.  He was considered the “Wedding Singer” with his favorite songs of “King of the Road”, “Tiny Bubbles”, and “Hello Dolly”.

     Larry is survived by his siblings, Linda (Dick) Yanke of Sparta, Patty (John) Donald of Brownsburg, IN, and Nick (Marla) Carlone of Sparta; brother-in-law, Bill (Jan) Bohn of Sparta; 10 nieces and nephews, Kim Mulvaney, Raymond “Chub” (Leticia) Bohn, Dawn (Scott) Rickert, Heidi (Tim) Bogenschneider, Tony (Bridgette) Steinhoff, Nicole (Jeff) Rickert, Nicole (Erik) Jones, Christine (Jeremy) Rickert, Travis (Wyndi) Donald, and Taylor (Kris) Donald; many great nieces and nephews who thought the world of him; he was also blessed with a multitude of friends.

     Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Beverly; his sisters, Mary Jo and Judy Bohn; and a brother, Ricky.

     A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Keith Kitzhaber officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

     Family and friends are invited to call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, and Saturday at the church from 12 noon until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be given to the Sparta Grid Iron Booster Club. To honor Larry, please wear Packer, Badger, or Brewer attire to the visitation and funeral. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
