Mary K. Palubicki, 81, of Sparta, died Monday, February 12, 2018 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. She was born on July 25, 1936 in Neillsville, WI to James Sr. and Agnes (Bryan) Cummings. She grew up in Neillsville and graduated from Neillsville High School.
Mary moved to Madison and worked at the Telephone Company. She married Robert C. Palubicki Sr. on July 30, 1955 in Neillsville. They lived in many places around the United States while Robert was in the military. They retired to Wisconsin in 1973. They moved to Cataract in 1976. Robert passed away on October 31, 1996. Mary moved to Sparta in 1997.
Mary worked at Fort McCoy in finance. She retired in 1995. She then worked part time at Wal-Mart until 2012. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, fishing, and camping. She was a lifelong American Legion Auxiliary member. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children, Cheryl (Gene) Johnson of Eau Claire, WI, Kathy (Randy) Rowan of Sparta, and Robert Jr. (Kathi) Palubicki of Sparta; her grandchildren, Christopher (Laura) Johnson, Heather Johnson, Kaei (Adam) Stubrud, Brianna Palubicki, Justin Rowan, and Matthew Rowan; her great grandchildren, Kenzie and Elise Johnson and Hadley, Trent, and Sophie Stubrud; her siblings, Nancy (Jack) Kelley of Nekoosa, Jo-Ann Rusinko of Warrens, Allen Cummings of Sun Prairie, and Tom (Pat) Cummings of Humbird; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Sr.; and her siblings, Agnes Stephens and James Cummings, Robert Cummings, John Cummings, Donald Cummings, and William Cummings.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Francis Hewuse officiating. Burial will be at a later time in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
