Alice M. Ziegler

Alice M. Ziegler, 93, of Sparta, passed away, Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center, Sparta. She was born May 14, 1924 to the late Gregory and Rosella (Garske) Kuderer at home in Norwalk, WI.

Alice attended Sparta High School and graduated with the class of 1942. She married Leonard Ziegler in 1955 at St. John the Baptist on Summit Ridge. Leonard preceded her in death on September 28, 1999. Alice was a member of the Farmers Valley Homemakers Club. She worked in the kitchen at Rolling Hills. Alice was very devout in her faith and volunteered much of her time to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta. Alice was an avid gardener, selling to local grocery stores, even selling her items roadside. Above all, church and family were most important to Alice.

Alice is survived by her three daughters, Joyce (Warren) Beaver, Nekoosa; Rosemary Ziegler, Sparta; and Linda (Bob) Petersdorf, Sparta; her four grandsons, Chase (Danielle) Ziegler, Oregon, WI; Christopher (Kylee Sullivan) Novak, Sparta, Gregory (Mandy) Novak, Sparta; and Marcus Novak, Sparta; and her two great-grandchildren, Mason and Lila Novak. She is further survived by her step-grandchildren, Lorraine (Tom) Jerome and family, Cataract; Gloria (Jeremy) Nichols and family, Sparta; and Elizabeth (Jake) Kueker and family, Illinois; her two sisters-in-law, Vera Sickert and Florence Ziegler; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; parents, Gregory and Rosella; an infant brother, Henry Kuderer; her mother and father-in-law, Charles and Dora Ziegler; and several brother and sisters-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 2, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Fr. Keith Kitzhaber officiating. Burial will follow Mass in Farmers Valley Cemetery, rural Sparta.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Online condolences may be offered to the Ziegler family at www.schanhoferfh.com.
