Barbara A. Erickson

     Barbara Ann Erickson, 81, of La Crescent, MN, formerly of Sparta, died Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse. She was born on February 25, 1936 in Hokah, MN to Fred M. and Roberta (Vandenbush) Shawley.

     Barbara resided in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School. She married Emery Johnson Jr. in 1954 and they later divorced. She married Larry Erickson and they divorced. 

     Most of her life, she was a waitress in various restaurants in Sparta.  Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a Green Bay Packer and Nascar fan.

     Barbara is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Rich) Mahan; her grandchildren, Michelle Steinfeldt and her children, Matthew, Hannah, and Daniel; Brad (Maryann) Johnson and their children, Niah, Addy, Marlee, and Jack; Robert (Michelle) Johnson and their son, Gavin; Amy Johnson and her children, Zachary, Mackenzie, and Alexis; sisters, Frances Day, and Linda Jick; brother-in-law, Erling Berg; and sister-in-law, LaVonne Shawley.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Roberta Shawley; a son, Steve Johnson; brothers, Vernon, Richard, and John; sister, Helen Berg; brothers-in-law, William Day and David Crocker.

     A special thank you to Mayo Health Care and Clara House in La Crescent and their staff for the special care Barb received.

     A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, October 28, at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home in Sparta. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hokah, MN.

     Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until time of services. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
