David “Bumper” Orville Schaldach, 72, of Tomah, passed away on July 25, 2019. He was born on February 19, 1947 in Viroqua to Orville and Jean (Curtis) Schaldach. David graduated from Viroqua High School in 1965 after which time he pursued a career in law enforcement. His first opportunity for law enforcement began in the Village of Cashton. From there, he transitioned to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. David retired from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department after having devoted 28 years to law enforcement. He worked 21 years as a rural mail carrier and was part of the Vander Meer Motor Company team as a driver and finally a sales consultant. David was an avid sports fan who loved the Brewers, Badgers and Packers. He enjoyed traveling, cooking and finding a good place to eat, but his greatest joy came from his grandchildren. David loved nothing more than seeing them and watching them participate in all of their activities.
David is survived by his son Tim (Donna) Schaldach ; daughter, Tiffany (Errin) Giesler both of Cashton ; grandchildren, Brittany, Marisa, Emily, Austin and Aubrianna Schaldach; and Katlyn and Robert Giesler; sister Lynn (Arden) Zitner of Liberty Pole and nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Aaron David Schaldach, and brother Curt Schaldach.
A Celebration of David’s life will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta.
