Eleanor B. M. Greeno

     Eleanor B. M. Greeno, 93, of Sparta, died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center, Sparta. She was born on March 7, 1924 in Sparta to August and Alma (Grossman) Yahnke. She grew up in Cataract.

     Eleanor married Irwin “Dude” F. Greeno on August 21, 1948 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Cataract. After marriage, they farmed in the Cataract and Norwalk area before moving into Norwalk. Eleanor was a housewife who dedicated her life to raising her disabled daughter.

     Eleanor is survived by her children, Loren (fiancée, Barb Morehouse) Greeno of Norwalk and Ardell Greeno of Oakdale; her grandchildren, Alicia Greeno and Brandon Greeno; her siblings, William (Karen) Yahnke of Cataract, Arlene Jessie of Sparta, Marie Livangood of Watertown, WI, and Jeanie Reid of Sparta; and her brother-in-law, Harlan Schober.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irwin “Dude” on May 6, 1995; and her siblings, Doris Schober, Eloise Roberts, Gilbert Yahnke, and Kenneth Yahnke.

     A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Roberta Nowicki officiating. Burial will be in Cataract Cemetery, Cataract.

     Family and friends are invited to call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
