Gary Dean Burnham, 76, of Sparta, passed away in his home on Sunday, November 4, 2018. Gary was born in Waukon, IA to Ray and Ruth (Harris) Burnham on November 22, 1941. Gary married Connie (Hove) Burnham and they lived in Sparta where he worked for the City of Sparta for 31 years until he retired in 2002. Gary was an avid Packer and Badger fan. He loved family get-togethers and camping with friends. Gary had a unique sense of humor and everyone he met was gifted a special nickname.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Connie; his parents, Ray and Ruth Burnham; daughter, Cheryl Burnham; a sister, Ragene Fuit; a son-in-law, Rick Ziegler; and a great-grandson, Hunter McCracken.
Gary is survived by his sisters, Geraldine (Patrick) Neumann of Angelo and Barbara (Robert) Heinz of Wilton; brothers-in-law, Paul Fuit of Sparta and Larry (Marie) Hove of Warrens; and sister-in-law, Barb (Ted) Fedderman of Cataract. His children are Sue (Tom) Marcus of Galesville, Monte Burnham (Michelle Brueggen) of Sparta and Holly Ziegler (Dale Hart) of Sparta.
Gary has ten grandchildren: Brian (Dora) Bollom, Stephanie Bollom, Jessica (Adam) McCracken, Jennifer Kinserdahl (Jason Libbey), Alysha (Brandon) Wilbanks, Cassandra Ziegler, Charyl (Tyler) Norris, Alex (Samantha) Bollom, Jazmine Brueggen (Eric Abbott), and Gabriella Burnham. Gary's ten great-grandchildren are Alexa and Caydence Miller, Chase and Angelina Bollom, Lily, Kendyl, and Riley McCracken, Jayden, Jaron, Jenson, and Jaxsten Libbey, Harmony, Gabe, Josie, and Silas Wilbanks, and Carson Soller. He spoke very fondly of his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Randy Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sparta.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
