Genevieve B. Hilleshiem, 98, of Sparta, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 22, 1920 to Elgie and Ruby (Kintz) McCauley in Richland County, Wisconsin.
Genevieve worked at Vick’s Motel and Northern Engraving in Sparta until her retirement. She married Lowell Hilleshiem on March 9, 1940. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1997. She was a member of the Farmers Valley Homemakers Club, Lois’ Circle at the United Methodist Church in Sparta, and the Onalaska Riders Club. Genevieve volunteered at Lawrence Lawson Elementary School. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening.
Genevieve is survived by her two children, Linda (Tom) Isler; and Randy (Mary) Hilleshiem; her grandchildren, Susan (Eric) Dietzman; David Isler; and Jody (Shawn Januesheske) Hilleshiem. She is further survived by her great grandchildren, Ryan (fiancée Kaitlin) Dietzman, Maxwell Reimer; and Benjamin Reimer; and a sister, Janice (Ike) Keil.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Hilleshiem; siblings, Dorothy Foley, Norma Markley, Lucille Froehlich, Gordon McCauley, Wilfred McCauley, Milfred McCauley, and Vaughn McCauley.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Rey Diaz officiating. Burial will follow in Farmers Valley Cemetery, rural Sparta.
