James M. Endres

     James M. Endres, 87, of Sparta, passed away peacefully January 14, 2019 at his home.  One of ten children, he was born on August 24, 1931 to George and Leone (Alton) Endres.  He grew up in rural Sparta on the family farm.

     Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1953.  After that he became a business owner in Sparta. 

     Jim was the proud father of nine children and worked very hard all his life to provide for all of them.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching sports, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.  Jim was a very special person; he was always there if anyone needed help.  He will be greatly missed.

     James is survived by his children, Debra Endres of Livingston, MT; Diane Endres of Wausau, WI; James (Cindy) Endres of Bangor, PA; Joe Endres of Sparta, WI; Jeffrey Endres of La Crosse, WI; Doreen Endres of Rockport, TX; Denise (Bill) Sirovatka of Denver, CO; Jared Endres of La Crosse, WI; and Dawn (Tom) Teel of Rockport, TX.  He is further survived by 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Angeline Nichols of Sparta, WI; Donald Endres of Sparta, WI; Janice Newberry of CA; George (Marge) Endres of Sparta, WI; Michael (Joyce) Endres of Sparta, WI; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and David; sisters, Alice Whitacre and MaryAnn Dean; and two infant siblings.

     A graveside burial was held on Friday, January 18 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Sparta. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
