James Allen Olson

     James Allen Olson, 72, of St. Paul, MN and formerly of Sparta, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at his home in St. Paul. He was born in Sparta on December 1, 1946 to Henry and Adeline Olson. He was a graduate of Sparta High School.

     Soon after high school, Jim was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. After spending two years in the military, he moved to St. Paul. He worked many years in the physical therapy department at the VA Medical Center in St. Paul until his retirement. He loved sports and coached many softball teams.

     Jim is survived by his step mother, Vera Olson; five sisters, Elaine (Bruce) Kressin of Alexandria, VA, Judy Given of La Crosse, Kathy Vepley, Sue Hunt, and Mavis Dickman all of Sparta; and eight brothers, Richard (Sandy) Olson of La Crosse, Stan (Starlyn) Olson, John Olson, Gene Olson, Frank Olson, David Olson, Arnie (Denise) Olson, and Norm (Michelle) Olson all of Sparta.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George.

     There will be no services at this time. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
