Jim R. Hughes

     Jim R. Hughes passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2017 with family by his side. He was born on September 20, 1928 to Fred and Anna Hughes. He grew up and lived his life in the Cataract area. He earned a living and supported his family by working in the woods, cutting pulp for over 40 years.

     On July 27, 1968, Jim married Lois Clemmerson. To this union, they had one son, Eric. Jim enjoyed time with family, spending afternoons at the family farm watching deer, reading, and taking trips out west.

     Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lois; his son, Eric and his wife, Linda (McLees) Hughes; grandson, Shelton Hughes; step-granddaughter, Kessa Hughes; three great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-laws, Ethel Hughes, Rebecca Shaefer, Peter (Darlene) Clemmerson, Dan Clemmerson, Donnie (Victoria) Clemmerson, Donna (Frank) Rowlee, and Robert Clemmerson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Johnny; his sisters, Florence (Reinhardt Sommers) and Ellen (George Farrington), brother and sister-in-laws, Aaron Clemmerson, Simon Clemmerson, Sam Clemmerson, Ronnie Clemmerson, Elizabeth Johnson, Doug Clemmerson, and Barbara Clemmerson.

     A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with a luncheon to follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cataract Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
