John C. Lauritzen Sr.

John C. Lauritzen Sr., 51, of Sparta, died Sunday, April 28, 2019 at his home. He was born January 29, 1968 in Elgin, Illinois to Dale Lauritzen and Marie Krehnke.

John moved to the Sparta area in the early 1996. He drove truck for several different companies. John’s greatest passion was his children and grandchildren.

John is survived by his six children, Jason (Megan) Lauritzen, of Sparta; James (Megan) Lauritzen, of Sparta; Jessie (Amanda) Lauritzen, of Germany; John Lauritzen Jr., of Florida; Natalia Spencer, of Sparta; Isabella Spencer- Lauritzen, of Sparta; seven grandchildren, Emma Leigh, Joyce, Eric, Aaron, Gage, Logan, and Saphira. He is further survived by his father, Dale Lauritzen; his siblings Bob (Denise) Hedberg; Jill (Al) Carter; Victoria (Ollie) Atterberry; Jerry (Claudia) Krammer; Rick Gillette; Tim (Tricia) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie; his three brothers, Alan Lauritzen, Jason Lauritzen, Mary Joyce Lauritzen and Randy Gillette.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the American Legion in Sparta, 9901 WI-21, Sparta, WI 54656, on Monday, May 6. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, in Gould Rock Cemetery, Adams County. Online condolences may be offered to John’s family at www.schanhoferfh.com.
