Leo M. Biever Jr.

      Leo M. Biever Jr., 86, of Sparta, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse, WI.  He was born on April 27, 1931 to Leo Sr. and Cecelia (Schueller) Biever.

     Leo grew up in Saukville, Ozaukee County on the family farm. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Hawaii and Fort Drum, NY during the Korean War. Leo married Bernice E. Beimborn on September 13, 1952 in Newburg, WI.  They lived in Grafton, Cedarburg, Port Washington, Fredonia, Jackson, Random Lake , and Sparta. He became a resident at Pineview Care Center in Black River Falls in the spring of 2017.

     Leo owned and operated his own gas station, drove semi, and school bus.  He also owned a bar and grill.  He collected cars and motorcycles, loved the outdoors, hunting, and snowmobilies.

     Leo is survived by his wife, Bernice of Black River Falls; children, Barry (Kathy) Biever of Rock, MI, Brian (Mary Ann) Biever of Cibolo, TX, Bonny (Kurt) Schendel of Sparta, and  Barbie Schendel of Kiel, WI; grandchildren, Barry Jr., Carry, Brian J., April, Edward, Nicole, Nick, and Katie; many great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

     Leo was preceded in death by his parents.

     A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Sparta, with Reverend John Meyer officiating.  Military honors will follow. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
