Lillie Heintz Obituary

Lillie Lenora (Jeche) Heintz was born on February 19, 1923 in Hustiford, WI to Paul and Ella (Messer) Jeche. She passed away on June 27, 2018 at Bethany Riverside Nursing Home in La Crosse, WI.

During World War II, Lillie worked at Badger Engraving in Milwaukee, a defense plant, where she engraved radar dials for anit-air-crafts. After the war she was the assistant librarian at the Allis Chalmers Library.

Lillie married Kenneth J. Heintz and lived in Hustiford, WI for a short time. They moved to Sparta, WI in 1957, where she resided until 2007. She then moved to La Crosse and resided at Bethany on Cass and Bethany Riverside Nursing Home, until the time of her death. Lillie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She enjoyed her many friends, dancing, playing cards, traveling and crafts.

Lillie is survived by her four children, Ricklin (Dawn Kronebush) of Winona, MN; Gayle Elbert, of Beaver Dam, WI; Gary (Barb) of La Crosse; and Sherrie (Tom Renaud) of Holly, MI. She is further survived by grandchildren, Marni Heintz, of Scottsdale, AZ; Geoff (Sarah) Heintz of Woodbury, MN; Jared (Lori) Heintz, of La Crosse, WI; Shane (Annie Dahlquist) of Minneapolis, MN; Nathan Diederich Elbert, of Fitchburg, WI; Karli (Justin) Heintz Mosey, of Helena, MT; Neil (Sara Weitekamp) of Holland, MI; and Peter Renaud, of Wixon, MI; great-grandchildren, Zoe Lily Ann Heintz, Kooper Kenneth Heintz, Hannah Lillie Heintz, Eleanor Jean Heintz, and Alexander Paul Heintz; a daughter-in-law, Pam Heintz of Woodbury, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Lillie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Harvey; sister, Elaine Chaplin, and son-in-law, Bruce Elbert.

Lillie’s family would like to thank the wonderful and amazing staff at Bethany Riverside Nursing Home and the Gundersen Hospice Team. Your care was such a strong presence in Lillie’s life. We truly appreciate your kindness and care.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 29, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 419 Jefferson Ave., Sparta, with Dan Hanke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Friday, from 1 p.m. until the time of services. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.schanhoferfh.com

Memorials may be directed to Bethany Riverside Nursing Home Recreation Department and /or the Freedom Honor Flight.
