Linda D. Deters

Linda D. Deters, 70, of Sparta, died Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Sparta. She was born September 29, 1946 in Alliance, OH to Robert and Dorothy (Pierce) Bowman. She grew up in Ohio and Indiana and her family settled in Durand, WI. She graduated from Cedarburg High School. She then attended Marquette University before moving to Durand.

     Linda married Lanny Deters on October 26, 1968 in Durand. They lived in Eau Claire before moving to Sparta in 1975. Linda worked for the Phone Company in Sparta for 26 years. She then worked at Fort Mc Coy before retiring because of health issues.

     Linda enjoyed playing cards with her girlfriends around Sparta, shopping, and watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

     Linda is survived by her husband, Lanny, of Sparta; her children, Heidi (Randy) Sullivan and Tony (Melissa) Deters both of Sparta; her grandchildren, Molly (Kyle) Hutson of Sparta, Jacob Sullivan of Menomonie, WI, Jaret Sullivan, Macy Sullivan, Hadley Deters, and Sawyer Deters all of Sparta; siblings, Janice (Dick) Bates of Durand, Judy (Kieth) Swenson of Balsam Lake, WI, Tom (Deb) Bowman of Charlotte, NC, and Barb (Richard) Kuss of River Falls, WI; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Bowman.

     A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta with Reverend Mark Kvale officiating. Family burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Durand, WI, at a later time.

     Family and friends are invited to call from 9 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church. The family requests casual dress and Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer attire. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
