Linus R. Heintz, 93, of Sparta, died Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. He was born October 9, 1924 to the late Hubert and Theresa (Karis) Heintz.
Linus grew up in the Wilton area and graduated from Wilton High School with the class of 1942. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from April 15, 1943 to April 21, 1946. He married Margaret “Dolly” Schroeder on April 22, 1950. He was very devout in his faith and was a fourth degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling and woodworking.
Linus is survived by his loving wife, Margaret “Dolly” Heintz; his four children, Jerry (Lois) Heintz, Deb (Ron) Keene; Ken (Cindy) Heintz; and Greg (Jessica) Heintz. He is further survived by five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman (Audrey) Heintz; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Theresa; a brother, Kenneth Heintz; and a sister, Eunice Neitzel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Juan Pedro officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with a 7 p.m. rosary at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 12 noon until time of services on Friday at the church. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
