Margaret J. Eddy, 80, of Sparta, died Monday, December 17, 2018 at her home. She was born on March 25, 1938 in Sparta to Abe and Mary (O’Neil) Andringa.
Margaret married Richard H. Eddy on February 1, 1958 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta. This past February they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Margaret worked as a secretary for the Monroe County Civil Defense office for many years. In retirement she volunteered at St. Patrick’s School where the kids knew her as Grandma Maggie. She enjoyed travel, dining out, and being outdoors. She especially enjoyed the hiking and snowshoe outings with the CMAT ladies. She was an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Richard Eddy; children, Steven (Lori) Eddy, Tim (Linda) Eddy, and Cheryl (Tony) Nelson; grandchildren, Lisa (Andy) Kastner, Michelle, Nina, Hannah, and Clara Eddy; great grandchildren, Mason, Madelyn, and Olivia Kastner; brother, Joe Andringa; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twins, Mary and Katherine; siblings, Robert, Charles, and Phillip Andringa, Grace Heimke, Mary Lou Garske, and Josephine Arnold.
For over eighty years, in her roles as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, coworker and volunteer; Margaret has been a constant and ever present source of love, integrity, and caring. She demonstrated her love in so many big and little ways that she became a truth of our lives, placed forever as part of our world .. constant like the morning.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating.
Family and friends are invited to call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, and from 12 noon until time of services on Saturday at the church. After the services there will be a luncheon at Jake's Northwoods Restaurant in Sparta.
The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
