Margaret L Erickson

     Margaret L. (Cordner) Erickson, 88, of Sparta, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta.

     She was born December 4, 1930, in Sparta, to Thomas Sr., and Esther (Smith) Cordner. Margaret married Loren O. Erickson on January 11, 1948. She worked various jobs in the area; including, waitressing for parties at the Sydney Hotel; bookkeeping for Sparta Brush Company; and retired from the Tomah VA Medical Center working in food service. Margaret loved to sew, play cards on her computer – especially Euchre, making Lefse, and the occasional trip to the casino. She was a Sunday School Teacher at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta for many years, a lifetime member of the Sparta VFW Post 2112 Ladies Auxiliary, and a den mother of the for the Sparta Cub Scouts.

     Survivors include her son Loren O. “Eric” Erickson, Jr.; daughter, Jayne (Mike) Werren; two grandchildren, Lucas Werren and Lacy (Travis) Lube; sisters, Helen Tomlin and Betty Berckman; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Cordner (Judy Schaub) and Thomas Cordner, Jr.; sister-in-law, Edith Cordner; nieces, Cheryle (Dan) Patty and Lori Erickson (Lennie); and many nieces and nephews.

     Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren; son, Gary “Gumby;” brother, Richard Cordner; sister, Emma (George) Loeffelholz; brothers-in-law, LaVerne Erickson, John Berckman, and Bobby Tomlin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Freeman and Myrtle Erickson.

     In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, private graveside services will be held.
