Maxine E. Isensee

     Maxine E. Isensee, 101, of Sparta, died Friday, September 21, 2018 at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. She was born on June 8, 1917 to Henry and Lucille (Ravenscroft) Nichols. She grew up in Sparta and, for a short time, her family lived in South Dakota. She graduated from Sparta High School.

     Maxine married Albert “Snooks” Isensee on September 23, 1936 in Waukon, IA. They farmed for many years. She worked at Fairway Foods. In 1960, she went to work for Sparta Motors and retired in 1986. She enjoyed camping and reading. Albert died on January 14, 1994.

     Maxine is survived by her son, Douglas Isensee of Sparta; his daughters, Margaret “Peggy” (Douglas) Brabant of Sparta and Donna (Ronald) Rooker of Sparta; eight grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lucille; her husband, Albert; her sister, Virgene Skrabek; and her brother, Robert Nichols.

     A private family burial was held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
