Michael J. Edwards

   Michael J. Edwards, 51, of Sparta, died Monday, April 8, 2019 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. He was born on February 10, 1968 in Wisconsin Rapids to James and Karen (Hibbard) Edwards. He grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School where he was a member of Sparta High School Upstage Revue. 

     Michael was a gifted musician who could play by ear. He loved singing, playing his guitar, and writing religious music. He also enjoyed watching football. He had a fantastic vocabulary. Michael loved playing with his son, Stanley, when he was a child.

     Michael is survived by his parents, Jim and Karen; his sister, JoEllen Edwards; his son, Stanley; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

     He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Orpha Hibbard and paternal grandparents, Conan and Marjorie Edwards.

     Per his wishes, Michael was an organ donor so that he may help someone in need.

     A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Scott Sheets and Darlene Pohl officiating. Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery, Sparta.

     Family and friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Sparta Area Cancer Support (SACS). 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
