Ronald A. Jensen, 83, of Sparta, died Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Mayo Health System, La Crosse. He was born on April 4, 1935 in Sparta, WI to Andrew and Evelyn (Bernett) Jensen. He grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1953. He served in the US Air Force and was stationed in Colorado and California. He then attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry.
Ronald married Mary Kalemba in New York in July 1967. They had two daughters. They later divorced. He married Irene Rich on January 4, 1992. Together, they enjoyed traveling the US, camping, fishing, and flying R.C. planes. Irene passed away on August 15, 2016.
Ronald sold insurance and worked at the Board Store in La Crosse until his retirement. He was a member of Wings Across America, River City Radio Control Modelers, and Sparta Area Model Club. He also appeared in the Guinness Book of World Records for most remote controlled aircraft in the air at the same time (99) on May 3, 2008.
Ronald is survived by his daughters, Susanne Jensen of Waukesha, WI and Patricia Jensen of Milwaukee; his granddaughter, Emily Bieneman of Waukesha; a sister, Judith (Tom) Lane of Eau Claire, WI; and Irene’s beloved dog Cuddles
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Evelyn and his wife, Irene.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, at Club 16 in Sparta with military honors provided by VFW Post 2112 held at 12 noon. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com
