Ruby Irene Hilda Culpitt, 80, of Cataract, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 2, 1937 to the late Maynard and Dorothy (Baker) Jerome in Burns, WI.
Ruby married Norman Culpitt on February 22, 1958. Norman preceded her in death on October 7, 2003. Ruby worked at Schultz Brothers dime store, cooked at St. Mary’s Hospital, was an on-call secretary for Monroe County, sorted cranberries at Habelman’s Cranberry marsh, and spending her time as a housewife and mother raising her three children. Ruby enjoyed gardening, sewing, and had a special love for dancing.
Ruby is survived by her children, Deb (Dan Selbrede) Geier and Lee (Roxanne) Culpitt; her 7 grandchildren, Naomi Geier-Hoff, Brittany Geier, Dana Geier, Zach Culpitt, Mackenzie Culpitt, Jessica Culpitt, and Samantha Culpitt; nine great-grandchildren: Connor, Chloe and Cameron Hoff; Presley Geier, Peyton Geier; Blake and Adam Houle; and Anabelle Deck. She is further survived by her siblings, Raymond (Eleanor) Jerome; Roger (Ruth) Jerome; Joy Jerome; David (Margaret) Jerome; Sidney (Karen) Jerome; Dorothy Christenson; and Betty Graak; and a brother-in-law, Larry Adams.
In addition to her husband, Norman and parents, Maynard and Dorothy, Ruby was preceded in death by a son, Brian Culpitt; brothers, Harlan and Marvin Jerome; a sister, Delores Adams; brother-in-law, Manley Christenson; sister-in-law, Leota Shaw; and a great-granddaughter, Madison Kinghammer.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, at the Cataract United Methodist Church, with Reverend Roberta Nowicki officiating. Burial will follow in Cataract Cemetery, Cataract.
Visitation for Ruby will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Online condolences may be offered to Ruby’s family at www.schanhoferfh.com.

Ruby’s family would like to thank the following: S.A.C.S., the Gundersen Hospice Team as well as Dr. Conway and Melissa Revels NP, and also extended family and friends that helped care for Ruby or provided an encouraging word or prayer during her illness.
