Ruby D. Olsen

Ruby D. Olsen, 95, of Rockland, passed away, Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta.  She was born in the Town of Portland, Wisconsin on February 10, 1923 to Alfred and Emma (Homstad) Amundson.

Ruby married Fay Olsen June 21, 1947 in the parsonage of the Lutheran Church in Cashton. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1974. Ruby was a lifelong member of Fish Creek Ridge Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed quilting for the church.  She also enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, baking, and quilting.

She is survived by 10 children, Larry (Terri) Olsen, Burlington, WA; Connie (Raymond)  Schulz, Rockland; Jean Olsen, Rockland; Rita Gollnik, Rockland;  Ruth (James) Gollnick, Bangor; Mark (Sheila) Olsen, Rockland; Brian (Genel) Olsen, Rockland; Sharon (Robert) Schroeder,  Menassas,  VA; Ellen (Curtis) Thompson, Bangor; and Mary (Forrest) Hansen, Bangor. She is further survived by 28 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; a daughter-in –law, Linda Olsen; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald Shafer; sisters-in-law, Ellen Stark and Rebecca Shafer; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Fay; her parents, Alfred and Emma; an infant daughter, Carol Olsen; a son, Ken Olsen; three brothers, Herbert Amundson, Morris Amundson, and Hans Amundson; and a sister, Evelyn Sanders.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 21, at Fish Creek Ridge Lutheran Church, Rural Rockland, with Reverend Dave Sorenson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Following interment there will be a luncheon in the church basement.
