Sherwin H. Giraud

     Sherwin H. Giraud, 74, of Sparta, died Friday, May 26, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse. He was born on March 15, 1943 in Norwalk, WI to Herbert and Olive (Menn) Giraud. He grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School.

     Sherwin then farmed on the family farm in Beaver Creek, working with his father, Herbert. He then worked alongside his son, Randy. He was very proud of his farming. It was his life.

     Sherwin married Anita Schanhofer on November 18, 1961 in Sparta. They lived in the Sparta area.

     Sherwin enjoyed his trips to Canada, Wyoming, and Colorado. He enjoyed many trips to Florida with family and friends. He also enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, and deer hunting. He loved spending time with his family. He was Past Festmaster for Sparta Butterfest, Town of Sparta Chairman, was on the Board of Directors for Union National Bank, and was a member of Sparta Rotary.

     Sherwin is survived by his wife, Anita of Sparta; his children, Lisa Gordon of Onalaska and her children, Ashlee and Dustin, Debra (Dale) Brandt of Cataract and their children, Jordan and Jacob, Randy (Stacie) Giraud of Sparta and their children, Nick (Kelsey), Schannel, Randall, and Alex; his two great-grandchildren, Gracie and Kalli; his very close friend, Jim Tripp; and other relatives and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Olive and a son-in-law, Todd Gordon.

     A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Mark Kvale officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

     Family and friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials be directed to the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin. 

     The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
