Thomas A. Keal, 86, of Sparta, died Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Morrow Memorial Home, Sparta. He was born on July 30, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to Lee and Catherine (Langridge) Keal. He grew up in Brooklyn.
Thomas served in the US Army and was stationed at Camp McCoy where he met the love of his life, Dariel Richardson. They were married on November 24, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta. They lived in New York for a year and moved back to Sparta and made it their lifelong home.
Thomas worked most of his career at Northern Engraving in Sparta. He was a member of the Jaycees in Sparta, Exhausted Roosters, a Mason, and a long serving member of the Sparta School Board. He volunteered for the Boy Scouts, Troop 67. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, bridge, bingo, and his evening martini.
Thomas is survived by his children, Tim (Julie) and children, Ellen and Sam; Jim (Bridget) and children, Andrew, Joseph, and Peter; Mary (Larry) Nolan and children, Trent (Christina), Kyle (Sierra), and Katie Tollefson; and Laura (Glen) Danielson, and children, Justin and Nick; great grandchildren, Hadley, Lainey, and Madeline; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dariel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Mark Kvale officiating. Burial, with honors provided by VFW Post 2112 will be in Leon Cemetery, Leon.
Family and friends are invited to call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
