Veda A. Jenkins

     Veda A. Jenkins, of Sparta and formerly Rockford, IL, died Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. She was born March 5, 1923 to Arthur and Mary Elizabeth (Wolfe) Parr in Westby, WI.

     Veda married Lyle Jenkins February 10, 1940. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1997. Together, they lived in Rhinlander and Rockford, IL before moving to Sparta in 1972. Veda worked as a custodian for homes, banks, etc. until her retirement in 1982.

     Veda is survived by her four children, Barbara Mortier of Amelia, OH; Lyle Jr. (Donna) Jenkins of Wyler, TX; Sharron (Jerry) Oyer of Angelo, WI; and David (Nancy) Jenkins of Tomah, WI. She is further survived by 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

     She is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle and parents, Arthur and Mary; and a son, Thomas Jenkins.

     A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, at Sugar Grove Cemetery, rural Westby, with Reverend Rey Diaz officiating. Visitation for Veda will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com.
