William “Willy” R. Fisher, 75, of Sparta, died Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. He was born on December 11, 1943 in Tomah, WI to Lloyd and Mabel (Bloom) Fisher. He grew up in Lyons Valley and graduated from Brookwood High School. He then worked at Northern Engraving in Sparta for a short time.
Willy married Jeanette Knutson on September 5, 1964 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem, WI. They lived in Sparta and moved to Racine, WI.
Willy worked for Belle City Foundry and later Case in Racine. They moved back to Sparta in 1977. He drove truck for Sparta-La Crosse Trucklines and various other trucking companies before retiring from Valley Cartage and Multi Stack of Sparta.
Willy enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, and cards. He loved his family, the Chicago Cubs, and the Green Bay Packers.
Willy is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Sparta; children, Kim (Paul) Knoll of Sparta, Richard (Jann) Fisher of St. Charles, MN, and Jeff (Anita) Fisher of Holmen, WI; grandchildren, Joshua, Brady, Calle, Andrew, and Ava; siblings, Joan Humphrey of Madison, WI, Norma Oswald of La Farge, WI, Lloyd Fisher of Sparta, Bobby Fisher of Georgia, Jane Kelley of Sparta, Raymond (Katie) Fisher of Sparta, Lyle (Gale) Fisher of Sparta, Duane (Barb) Fisher of Sparta, Dennis Fisher of Sparta, Lois (Roger) Stedman of Sparta, and Ruth Brueggeman of Sparta; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mabel; and a brother, Ronnie.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sparta, with Reverend Mark Kvale officiating.
Family and friends are invited to call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church.
