Allan H. Anderson

Allan H. Anderson, 69, of Cataract, died Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. He was born in Sparta on March 20, 1952 to Frederick and Irene (Voigt) Anderson.

Allan married Julie Leis on May 4, 1974 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta. They built a life and family together on the Anderson family homestead in the Township of New Lyme. Al spent most of his working years as an agriculture mechanic, retiring from Ace Hardware where he enjoyed sharing his extensive knowledge of gardening, beekeeping, and all-things sportsman related.

Al spent many years serving the public on the New Lyme town board. He shared his passion for hunting with hundreds of kids and adults as a certified hunters safety instructor, inserting lots of personal stories and anecdotes into the lessons to make them memorable.

Al instilled a deep-rooted love for the outdoors to his children, Rick (Rebecca), Daryl (Kimberly), Dwayne (Krista), and Shaun and grandchildren who are carrying on the tradition. He and Julie spent countless hours turkey hunting and fishing, many of those hours on Lake Petenwell, reeling in catfish.

Allen is survived by his wife, Julie; children and grandchildren; sister, Ardel (Dick) Lindow; brother, Orlen (Bonnie) Anderson; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Loren Anderson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church, 6774 Acorn Ave, Printz Creek, with Pastor Joel Nuemann officiating. Burial will follow in Cataract Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from  4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.
