Allen L. Erickson

Allen L. Erickson, 77, of Sparta, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, La Crosse. He was born September 12, 1948 to James and Catherine (Moen) Erickson, in La Crosse. He graduated from Holmen High School.

After high school, Allen served in the US Army, during the Vietnam War. He enlisted in May of 1968 and was honorably discharged in February of 1971.

Allen married Judith Evans in 1984, in Sparta. He was a supervisor at Spartek for 13 years. After leaving there he worked for Erickson Construction with his brother Eddie for 4 years. While working for Sparta United Methodist Church he also drove school bus for 13 years, until his retirement. 

Allen enjoyed playing horseshoes, drawing farms and landscapes, fishing, reading, and traveling on road trips. He also loved family picnics and events and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Sparta; children, Lindsay (Josh) Devillers of Green Bay, Lisa (James Pollack) Erickson of Sparta, and Lacey (John) Schaffner of Janesville; 8 grandchildren, Riley, Liam, Braeden, Avery, Harper, Evan, Ethan, and Nicolas; siblings, James (Gloria) Erickson Jr of Houston, MN, Richard Erickson of La Crosse, Marlene Branson of Galesville, Michael Erickson of Centerville, and Clarissa Erickson of Holmen; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Catherine Erickson; daughter, Jessica Erickson; and siblings, Edward Erickson and Sandy Walsh.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025 at Sparta United Methodist Church, with Reverend Lourdes Magalhaes officiating. Burial, with full military honors provided by VFW post 2112 and American Legion Post 100, both of Sparta, will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.

A Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday, at the church. Online condolences may be offered a www.schanhoferfh.com
