Allen J Solchenberger

Allen J. Solchenberger, 66, of Sparta, died Friday, January 20, 2017 at his home. He was born on April 25, 1950 in Hillsboro, WI. He grew up and was raised by his parents in Kendall, WI. He graduated from Royal High School. 

Allen married Patricia E. Warner on July 10, 1971 in Kendall, WI. He proudly served in the US Army from March 28, 1969 until his honorable discharge March 19, 1971. He then worked at JC Penny in Milwaukee. In 1977, his family moved to Sparta and he worked at Toro until his retirement in 2000.
Allen enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked playing cards and horseshoes and loved anything outdoors.  

Allen is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Amy (Mark) Anderson; grandchildren, Allison Anderson, Jameson Anderson, Micheal (Abby) Anderson, and Samantha (Aaron) Swenink; great grandchildren, Tanner Swenink, Gage Schuster, Caleb Johnson, and Kaiden Johnson; siblings, Carol Jeske, Helen (Herb) Ritter, Dale (Cindy) Solchenberger, Kandis (Spencer) Warner, Kathy (Doug) Parrish, Kris (Brenda) Eckelberg, Karina (James) Noll, Kenny (Debbie) Eckelberg, and Kelly (Kay) Eckelberg; brother-in-laws, Kenny (Candace) Warner and Steven Warner; sister-in-law, Judy (Bill) Dicke; further survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dorothy Eckelberg; sisters, Brenda (Alan) Miller and Wanda Solchenberger; bother-in-law, Ron Warner; and mother and father-in-law, Lillian and Spencer Warner. 

The family would like to thank the Tomah VA Hospice Center and Gundersen Lutheran Hospice Center for their kindness and care during Allen’s illness.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with Priscilla Hemmersbach officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by VFW Post 2112 will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred. 

The Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, is assisting the family with arrangements.
