Ann H. Borreson

Ann H. Borreson, 88, of Sparta, died Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the Morrow Home, where she had been a resident for several years. She was born December 7, 1934 in Sparta to Frank and Hazel (Standiford) Beckler.

Ann attended La Crosse State Teacher’s College, now UW-La Crosse, where she received a Teacher’s Certificate. She worked for 1 year as a teacher in Montana before her marriage to Dale Borreson on June 7, 1956. They lived for a brief time in Janesville and then in Melrose before moving to Sparta. She worked as a substitute teacher for a number of years before becoming the children’s librarian at the Sparta Public Library. 

Ann and Dale were members of the Sparta Literary Club and she was also a member of the Sparta Garden club for many years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed genealogy, camping, and traveling the country. She made sure to make special time for each of her grandchildren and their families.

Ann is survived by her children Eric (Laurie), Kris, Berndt (Mary), and Leif (Robyn); her grandchildren, Thor Borreson, Thad (Jasmine) Borreson, Jackie (Jacob) Maxwell, Kristina Garcia, Katy (Ryan Oxley), Josh (Sarah) Connelly, Isaac (Lauren) Borreson, Colton Borreson, and Callan Borreson; her great-grandchildren, Ronin Borreson, Jaxon Maxwell, Olivia Sharpsteen, Angeli Padilla, Gianni Padilla, Molly Oxley, Madden Connelly, Brock Connelly, Landon Connelly, Tenley Connelly, and great-great-grandson Zakai Broussard. She is further survived by her brothers Henry and Frank, sister Judy, and many nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale in 2016, her son Fred, her brother Fred, her sister Kathy, and an infant sister Janet.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home, Sparta, with the Reverend Pricilla Hemmersbach officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sparta.
