Annette H. Rickert, 86, of Sparta, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025 at her residence in Sparta. Annette was born on April 2, 1939 to Spencer Johnson and Margaret (Brown) Johnson in Sparta. Annette grew up in the Cataract/Sparta areas. She attended Sparta High, was voted to the 1956 Prom Court, and graduated from Sparta High School in the Class of 1957.
Annette married Lee Rickert, November 8, 1958 and were blessed with and raised their 5 boys; Steven, James, Kelly, Scott and Jeffrey. Annette very much enjoyed Cooking, Baking, Crocheting, playing the Accordion, Painting, and Singing in the Church Choir. In their earlier years, Lee and Annette were on and enjoyed their bowling leagues and playing cards.
Upon retirement, Lee and Annette enjoyed traveling in their RV and spending the winter months in the Albuquerque, NM area. There they were blessed to reunite with Lee’s sister and her family, and several years of catch up. They cherished each visit, and met and gained several new friends.
Annette, is survived by her children; Steven (Deanna) Rickert of Sparta, James (Sandi) Rickert of New Castle, Co., Kelly (Jane) Rickert of French Island, Scott (Dawn) Rickert of Sparta, and Jeff (Nicole) Rickert of Schofield; 14 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Annette is further survived by her sibling’s, Roger Johnson and Dennis Johnson, both of Sparta.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents; Spencer and Margaret Johnson; husband Lee Rickert; and brother, Bruce Johnson.
Annette expressed numerous times, “I have been blessed with Wonderful Family and Friends, enjoyed being a housewife and a very busy mother of 5. I have great memories I will take with me, when my time here is over. I believe we’ll all be together again someday!! Love you all very much!”
A Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Cataract Cemetery. Following the Graveside service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Big Dan’s Longbranch, in Cataract.
A Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta.
