Arthur “Art” Edward Yahnke was born on January 11, 1938 to Edward and Dorothy (Henman) Yahnke in Madison, WI. As a small child, the family moved to Sparta; where he grew up as the oldest, with 2 sisters, Edith and Mary. Art attended Elementary school and graduated from Sparta High School in 1956. He attended further education in New Ulm, MN.
Art married, and had 3 children, Mark, Greg, and Beth. They later divorced.
For many hears, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddies. They made trips to Michigan for salmon, and up North for trout. They hunted throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota during deer seasons, with many stories to follow.
Art was a baptized member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he served on many committees.
He was with Northern Engraving for many years, as a supervisor, and spent time at several of their plants. After his retirement, he drove for Senior Services and enjoyed woodworking.
Art later met Barb Givens and her three children, Brenda, Martel, and Greg. They married and had a happy, blended family.
After developing neuropathy, Parkinson’s, and Dimentia, Art passed away on January 27, 2023 at Lakeview Health Center, in West Salem; to go home to be with Jesus, our Lord.
