Audrey J Hoekstra

Audrey Jean Hoekstra, 90, died Monday, April 28, 2025, at Abbotsford Healthcare Center in Abbottsford, WI. She was born on October 11, 1934, to Henry and Marjorie (Lanham) Ball in Cataract, WI. Audrey married Robert “Bob” Bartz in 1953. They raised their four children, Michael (Patricia), Marjorie (John Dudzek), Theodore (Debbie), and Audrey “Tayo”. After Bob’s death in 1978, Audrey married Kenneth Hoekstra, and together they helped raise Ken’s children.

Audrey was well known as an excellent cook and baker. She loved her family, animals—especially dogs—gardening, reading, camping, watching Gunsmoke, and visiting with friends in her gazebo.

She is survived by her daughters Audrey Greene and Debbie Bartz; son-in-law John Dudzek; step-children Kelly (Ray) Orman, Kenn (Heidi) Hoekstra, Carmen (Dave) Carpenter, Lee Ann Hoekstra, and PJ Hoekstra; grandchildren Rhonda (Chesley) Roberts, Anna-Theresa Dudzek, Joshua (Georgien) Dudzek, Robert (Jaclyn) Bartz, Perry (Theresa) Nelson, Becky (Shawn) Baade, Jennifer (Joe) Colstad, Amber (Corey) Meyer, Howard (Crystal) Newberg, Austin Orman, Bailey Orman, Mariah Orman, Connor Hoekstra, Kennedy Hoekstra, Allison Hoekstra, Dayne Hoekstra, Braiden Hoekstra, Parker Hoekstra, and Michaela Hoekstra; nieces Sherry Chatfield, Melody Buetow, and Holly Holick; special cousins Steve (Linda) Boris, Greg (Ellen) Ball, and Buzz (Marilyn) Hemstock, plus many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Audrey is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Bartz and Kenneth Hoekstra and partner Ted Hoekstra; parents Henry and Marjorie Ball; children Mike Bartz, Marjorie Dudzek, and Ted Bartz; daughter-in-law Patricia Bartz; granddaughter Angela Giovannoni; and siblings Iris Chatfield and James Ball.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Reverend Randy Williamson officiating. The burial will follow the luncheon in Cataract Cemetery, Cataract.

Family and friends are invited for the visitation from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the funeral home.
