Batina Laxton Obituary

Batina left this world on February 13, 2026 at the age of 51. Surrounded by love, she passed peacefully with her family by her side at Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse. She left behind a legacy of compassion, devotion, and unwavering love for family.

Batina was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on April 17, 1974, to Clarence and Linda Talbert. They lived in Virginia until 1985, when they moved North to Sparta, Wisconsin. Batina attended St. Pat’s Catholic School alongside her brother, Michael. In 1992, she started her family, which would lead to a lifetime of happiness for her. She grew her family to include 3 children with her Husband, Rich. Batina was a simple woman; her pleasures outside of being a homemaker and a mother included long drives with her windows down and music up, watching the Washington (Redskins) Commanders, time outdoors, or adventuring. She had a love for all things Marvin the Martian, Steampunk, and Ice-cold Dr. Pepper. These passions reflected her beautiful spirit, which was full of warmth, creativity, and genuine love for life.

From the very beginning, she carried a spirit that was gentle, caring, and deeply rooted in love for others. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing her knew that she gave wholeheartedly, whether through silent acts of service, kind words, or sharing her infectious smile.

Family was the center of Batina’s world; she was a devoted daughter, sibling, mother, wife, and grandmother, always placing loved ones first. Holiday gatherings, phone calls, card games, or simple moments together were cherished by her.

She had a heart that overflowed with compassion and a home filled with unconditional acceptance. She deeply cared about the well-being of others and never hesitated to offer support and encouragement with a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and understood.

Batina is lovingly remembered by her husband, Rich; her children, Daniel (Janna), Elizabeth, Stephen (Sarah); her grandchildren, Ryan, Aria and Jameson. She is also survived by her brothers, Rob, Chris, and Keith, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Clarence “Sonny” & Linda; her brother, Michael; and close family friend, Bob.

A celebration of life will be held from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation in Sparta. A luncheon will follow the visitation immediately after, and then a burial will follow at Burns Cemetery in Bangor at 1:30 pm.

Batina will forever be remembered for her loving heart, gentle yet stubborn soul, and the way she made everyone feel like family. Though our hearts ache, we are grateful for the beautiful life she lived and the endless love she gave.
