Benjamin M. Path

Benjamin “Ben” Michael Path, 37, died July 5, 2023, at his home in Onalaska. He was born December 12, 1985 to Tom Path and Karen Schreier. 

Ben grew up in Sparta, WI and graduated from Sparta High School. After high school he attended Western Technical college where he earned his degree as a central service technician. He worked at Gundersen hospital, where he was a valued employee and friend to many. 

Ben had such a sweet and loving soul. He made a deep impression on every life he touched; whether it be his contagious big smile or his one-of-a-kind laugh. Above everything else, Ben was kind. He did not pass judgement on others and would openly befriend those in all walks of life. He fashioned himself as a bit of a misfit, and did not seek to conform to life's normalities. Ben did not place value on the material things in life but found great joy in new experiences. He found peace in nature and enjoyed hiking, bike riding and traveling on new adventures. He had recently found his knack for fishing, a hobby instilled in him by his late grandfather, Emil. Ben loved animals, especially his cat Harry Houdini. He loved spending time with his family and friends; especially his nieces and nephews, who were his world. Ben was wise beyond his years with a wealth of knowledge. He enjoyed talking for hours about certain topics; including a recent passion for his family history. Anything and everything Ben did, he did with his whole heart. He meant more to his family and friends than he ever understood. 

Ben, you fought so hard for so long. God has now called you home to be at peace and your beautiful soul is safe.

Ben is survived by his father, Thomas Path (Deanna Hutchinson), mother, Karen Schreier (Mark Slotten), sister Cassie Path (Ronald Steele), brother, Brennon Path, sister in law, Ashley Path, honorable brother, Gavin McCue, nieces, Peyton Lockington (Coltan Friedel), Addisyn Steele, Ainsley Path, nephews, Javon Davis, Blake Path, Brooks Path. Grandparents, David and Christine Schreier, Tony and Violet Capaul, Donna Path. Ben had so many uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Emil Path, cousin, Matthew Small.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:30A.M., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating.

A visitation will be held from 9:30A.M.-11:30A.M., Saturday, at the funeral home.
