Bernadine Grace Finch, 98, of Baraboo and formerly of Sparta, died Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Oak Park Place Assisted Living, Baraboo. She was born in Monroe County on November 24, 1920 to Avery and Edith (Gabower) Brown.
Bernadine attended rural school in Diamond Valley and Oakdale. She graduated from Tomah High School with the class of 1938. Following high school she attended the Sparta Business College. She married Robert D. Finch at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta. Bernadine worked at Masters, Hansen and Krembs as a secretary; Pet Milk until it closed in 1961; and at Northern Engraving as an executive secretary for 22 years until her retirement.
Bernadine was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, Sparta Garden Club, and St. Patrick’s PCCW. She volunteered at the Red Cross Blood drives, the Morrow Home, and the food pantry. Bernadine enjoyed camping, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and listening to books on tapes.
Bernadine is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Peter) Sprecher; five grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer) Finch; Meghan Finch; Leah (Adam) Voltz; Ashley (Daniel) Blinka; and Nicole (William) Deppe; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Lauren, Aiden, Anika, Cora, Addisen, and Grady. She is further survived by a brother, Eldon “Bud” Brown; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Finch; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Robert and parents, Avery and Edith, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Finch; and a son, Robert E. Finch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 5, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
