Carla Mae Wegner, 83, of Cataract, died Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center, Sparta. She was born in Sparta on September 8, 1937 to Myrle and Helen (Puls) Aney. She attended grades 1-8 in the Cataract School and graduated from Sparta High School in 1955.
In 1957, Carla married James Wegner. She retired in 1998 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Sparta.
Carla is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Robert (Ann) Wegner, Susan (Tom) Mack; grandsons, Chase (Danielle) Ziegler and Bradley Mack; brother, Bruce (Rosemary) Aney; sister-in-laws, Elvera “Tootie” Bernett, Joanne (Gene) Christenson, Jeanette (David) Dukleth, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Russell “Russ” Bernett.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 in Cataract Cemetery, with Reverend Roberta Nowicki officiating. Luncheon and fellowship will follow at Cataract United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Cataract Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Cataract 1st Responders, SACS, Cataract UMW, and Cataract Cemetery.
