Dennis Dockerty, 75, of Sparta, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Dennis leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Dennis was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was passionate about camping, fishing, and rummage sales, and he was often seen riding around the city on his scooter, spreading smiles wherever he went. His warm spirit and kind heart touched the lives of all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife; Patty (Meade) Dockerty; his children, Shawn Wylie, Troy (Melissa) Dockerty, Tracy (Mike) Sylvester, Tina (Troy) Reinart, Lisa Dockerty, Renee Torres, Heather (Mauricio) Aguilar, and Robert Dockerty; his sister, Janette Dockerty; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Orlyn and Charlene Dockerty; his sister, Diane McGinnis; his brother, Richard Dockerty; his daughter, Melanie (Dockerty) Gilkes; and his grandchildren, Harlie Dockerty, Christopher Sylvester, Jayden Dockerty, and Logan Gilkes.
Dennis will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His family takes comfort in knowing that his love and spirit will continue to live on in their hearts.
Although there will be no memorial service at this time, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family appreciates the love and support during this difficult time and invites all who knew Dennis to join them in honoring his memory when the details are announced.
