Dale L. Heilman

Dale L. Heilman, 83, of Cashton, died Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at his home. He was born on May 24, 1940 to Maurice and Celia (Schmitz) Heilman in Sparta. Dale grew up in Cashton. He attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Sparta and graduated from Cashton High School.

Dale married Elizabeth Steinhoff in January of 1961 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sparta.

Dale worked at Northern Engraving in Sparta for 10 years, while farming. He then purchased the family farm. They lived on the family farm their entire married lives.

Dale enjoyed riding around on his John Deere gator and tractors, working in the garage, and going for rides in the country. He had a collection of tractors of all sizes.

Dale is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Heilman of Cashton; children, Theresa Heilman of Cashton, and Kevin (Mary) Heilman of Sparta; 4 grandchildren, Amy Brueggeman, Kelly (Jason) Schmitz, Stacey (Michael) Bullen, and Terri (Kevin) Laufenberg; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Don Heilman of Sparta, and Doug (Judy) Heilman of Winona; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Celia Heilman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will be at a later time in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Sparta.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Online condolences may be offered at www.schanhoferfh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, to be distributed to Dale’s favorite charities.
