David G Hanson

David George Hanson, 68, of Sparta, died February 25, 2023, at his residence. He was born April 13, 1954 to Elmer and Leona (Sullivan) Hanson. He grew up in Cashton, and graduated from Cashton High School.

He married Susan (Schendel) Hanson on July 12, 1975 and later divorced in 2001 but reconnected as close friends.

He enjoyed working on cars and attending car shows - the more MOPARS, the better. He also liked working around the house and, in later years, tending the trees and grapevines around his house. He took pride in trying to leave things better than he found them. He loved animals and animals loved him; sometimes wild animals would even eat from his hand, as he sat on his deck. 

David is survived by his sons Scott (wife Shannon) and Chad, grandsons William “Liam” and Owen, sister Carolyn (husband Orville) Koopman, brothers Dennis (wife Wanda), Wayne (wife Vicki), Gerald ”Gerry” (wife Kay), and Jeffrey ”Jeff”, numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friend Timothy “Timber” Martin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard ”Dick”; and sister, Jean Hanson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta.
