David C. Schauf

David C. Schauf, 62, of West Salem, died Sunday, November 28, 2021 at his home. He was born on November 7, 1959 in Sparta to Charles and Lois (Christopherson) Schauf. He grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 1978.

David married Marie Olsen on February 4, 1978 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta. They lived in Sparta until 1988 and moved to Onalaska. They moved to West Salem in 2000.

David worked in flooring his entire life. He owned and operated Art’s Floor Mart, renaming it Quality Interiors. He also worked as an installer for numerous flooring businesses in the area.

David was a board member for the West Salem Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling, trap shooting, gambling, and loved dogs and cats.

David is survived by his wife, Marie of West Salem; children, Mike (Rebecca) Schauf of Sparta, Dan (Gretchen) Schauf of Oak Creek, WI, and Teri (Tim) Schauf-Berge of West Salem; grandchildren, Tim, Megan, Lexi, Seth, Lathan, Alex, Mackenzie, Kayla, Dominic, Cory, and Macey; mother, Lois Schauf of Sparta; brother, Wayne (Linda Keenan) Schauf of Sunol, CA; father-in-law, Fred Olsen; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Charles Schauf; and mother-in-law, Arlene Olsen.

A rosary and prayer service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta, with Father Eric Berns officiating. Burial will be in Leon Cemetery, Leon.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to help with medical expenses.
