David Raymond Zebell, 78, of La Crosse, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Bethany St. Joseph's in La Crosse. He was born in Cashton, WI June 27, 1943 to Werner and Margaret (Miller) Zebell.
David is survived by his two sons, David (Kelly) and Brian (Heather); stepsons Rich (Sue) and Curt (Naomi); stepdaughters Traci and Tammi; grandchildren Amanda, Desiree, Breanna, Cursta and Devon; brothers, Richard (Katherine) Zebell, Glen (Audrey) Zebell, Eugene Zebell, John Zebell, and Gerald Zebell; sisters, Caroline (Warren) Stalsberg, Louise (Walter) Olson, Mary (Maynard) Forrest, Donna (Duanne) Rodenberg, Phyllis (Steven) Parmenter, Joan (Donald) Verken, and Patricia (John) Herricks.
David, who was known by his friends as “Stub” dropped out of school at age 16 to join the United States Army, serving over 8 years, including the Vietnam War. David was married and divorced to Letitia and Karen. David was an avid fisherman and was particularly proud of his 1969 Pontiac GTO that he bought after completing his U.S. Army service.
David was preceded in death by his parents Werner and Margaret.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral Home and Cremation, Sparta. A memorial visitation will be held prior, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM until the time of service. Interment St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. For online condolences please visit www.schanhoferfh.com.
