Diane Marie Thompson, 81, of Sparta passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 15, 1944 to Guy and Edith Felton. She was born and raised in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Diane met Marvin Thompson in Mason City, Iowa. They were married on August 26, 1978 and spent 47 wonderful years together. Together they raised 2 sons and 3 daughters.

Diane’s favorite pastime was spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing cards and games, and she found happiness in pleasing others. She always took a special interest in asking “how was your day” and offered an ear to listen and had a heart full of love. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. In her final days, she was at peace and was ready to go to Heaven and see Jesus.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; children, Craig Westling, Marc Westling, Amy (Marc) Brueggen, Nina (Brian) Massey, and April (Brad) Treu; grandchildren, Haley McClelland, Cody and Brandon Brueggen, Caleb and Lathan Schulte, and Brayden and Zach Treu; 2 brothers, David Felton, and John (Deb) Felton; 3 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Edith Felton; sister, Barb Felton; and niece Cheri Reif.

A Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Sparta. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Sparta with a luncheon to follow at the church.

A Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Lanham-Schanhofer Funeral and Cremation, Sparta; and from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
